For María Romero, caring for health begins long before illness appears.
Originally from city of Puebla,Mexico. María leads a business focused on nutrition and wellness, helping people understand the importance of adequate nutrition, digestive health, cardiovascular health, hydration, physical activity, and healthy habits.
But for María, health is not only about what happens inside her business. It is about what happens in the community.
That belief is what brought her to UNETE Foundation.
“I joined UNETE because there are so many people out there who need to understand why taking care of their health matters,” María explains. “We focus on the importance of nutrition and prevention, and through UNETE, I can help more women prioritize their health and take better care of themselves.”
Her commitment comes from a simple but powerful concern: too many people discover disease only after it has progressed.
“There are many women who do not detect diseases early, and by the time they do, it can be too late,” she says.
For María, prevention is an opportunity to change that story.
Through her partnership with UNETE, she hopes to encourage women to pay greater attention to their health—to drink more water, stay active, make informed decisions about nutrition, and, most importantly, seek preventive care.
Her vision, however, goes beyond women.
“Not only women, but also men and children,” she says. “They are also part of this problem.”
That perspective reflects something María has come to understand through her work: health is a responsibility we share as a community.
Her support of UNETE is therefore more than a partnership between a business and a nonprofit organization. It is a personal commitment to helping create a culture in which prevention becomes part of everyday life.
“I like this project because this way I can help more women take care of themselves.”
And sometimes, creating change begins with something as simple as helping one person understand that their health is worth protecting before it becomes a crisis.
